Hey Jonathan- I haven't commented here before... and was led to do so because of "blog comment day." This is a thoughtful post... and it caught my eye. This morning I was studying Jude- the obscure wee book before Revelation. It's a heavy letter... Jude is framed with a message of grace and mercy from Jesus... yet Jude also comes down really hard on people who claim to be believers but who live in a way that goes against God. I'm convicted today that I (and many "Christians" with me) need to be more convicted in how I/we live. It's not about fighting culture... it's about fighting our own decomposition... I agree with you that it's not about an outward purity, but embracing/living-out the grace, love and mercy that Jesus gives.
